ARfield is built to keep your models private. This page explains, in plain terms, what happens to your files.

Viewing a model — nothing is uploaded

Sharing a model — only what you choose

If — and only if — you tap Share, the converted model (and an iPhone-AR version of it) is uploaded to secure cloud storage (Cloudflare R2) so that the person you send the link to can open it. When you share, we store:

• The converted model files (GLB and, if generated, USDZ).
• The title you give it.
• An optional location, only if you tick "Include my current location" when sharing.
• The date it was shared.

A shared model is reachable by anyone who has its link, so only share models you are comfortable sending to that person.

Accounts — and why we keep what we keep

Opening your own file, or sending a share link, needs a free account. We hold your email address and name so that we know whose work is whose, so your models and share links come back to you on any device, and so a real person can help you when something goes wrong — which is difficult to do for someone we cannot identify.

Company and discipline are optional. They are genuinely useful: knowing you are a structural engineer rather than an architect changes the answer to most support questions, and it tells us which parts of the product to build next.

We only send you marketing if you actively ticked the box, and you can tell us to stop at any time. Someone you send a link to still needs no account at all — that does not change.

Reporting something on a model you were sent

If you were sent a link and you report something on the model, we store your note, the name you type if you give one, and the point on the model you marked. That goes to the practice that sent you the link, so they can act on it — and it stays on record so you can come back to it and see what was done, rather than wondering whether it went anywhere.

• Your email address is optional, and it is the only way we can tell you what happened. Give it and you get a reference and an answer; leave it out and your report still reaches the practice, you just will not hear back. We do not use it for marketing, and we do not share it beyond the practice that sent you the model.
• We record the country your request came from (which Cloudflare tells us for free) and nothing more — no IP address and no device details.
• To have a report removed, email [email protected] quoting the reference we sent you.

Location

Location is used only if you choose "Include my current location" when sharing, or when a recipient taps "Find this location" to get a distance/direction. It is read from your device's browser, is approximate (roughly 2–50 m), and is never tracked continuously.

Keeping or deleting a shared model

Shared models are kept so their links keep working. To have a shared model deleted, email [email protected] with the share link and we'll remove it.
